My 46 gal tank has been running for 6 weeks and the tubing attached to my airstone appears to be filled with a white substance - is this calcification? Indication that I have hard water? Should I replace it or can I rinse it out? Thanks!

Probably calcium buildup. Do you have hard water?

At $5 for 20 ft of tubing, I don't know if I would spend the time to try and clean it. It would be tough to clean anyway without the use of chemicals/soaps, which would be a no no for aquarium equipment.

Is it inside the tubing, or the outside? If it's inside, make sure you have one of those little check valves, or you can electrocute something. :(
It probably is just mineral buildup, and you should be able to wipe it off. If not, you can get a long line of tubing from Walmart for like $5, and cut the length you want. :)
