Anyone ever installed a bulkhead with the flange on the outside?

Hey All,

I am setting up my new fuge/sump tomarrow and I wanted to install the bulkhead with the flange on the outside of the sump and the nut on the inside of the sump.

Has anyone done this? I don't see why it would make any difference as long as the gasket is between the nut and the sump wall. But I wanted to check and see if it has been done and not leaked?

Thanks all,

-TheChad

Mostly you want the water pressure pushing with the flange to keep it sealed, not fighting against the water pressure. All in all it probably won't make a difference one way or another.

The obvious question that makes the mind spin is....... Why?

I have limited space, and having the bulkhead stick out of the sump just takes more room. Having the flush side on the outside would just work out better.
