Aquael Reefmax Skimmer

My skimmer just doesn't create the froth that it should do, what I did to combat this is attach an aquarium air pump to the air pipe forcing air in and this is creating a real decent froth, is this just to do this, can anyone see any issue with doing this? Thanks.

No. The more air the better. Has it increased significantly?
