Aquarium controllers

Can someone explain controllers like the apex to me? Are they worth it or are they just expensive luxuries that only the most advanced and better off reefers use? How user friendly are they?

They are great little tools. They aren't always necessary, as I run my Radions and Vortechs off of Ecotech's reeflink...but the part where they can control probes to monitor levels is really nice.
I've never used one, but I would like something to assist with monitoring the levels in my system for my corals and clams.

So they are basically really nice around the clock test kits?

After doing research on them I wasn't sold on it at first but I decided to go with it for peace of mind. I was really hesitant due to the price but it's well worth it in the long term.
