Should aquarium lights be switched off at night? We've noticed that when the lights go out, the fish settle at the bottom of the tank. Comments please...thank you

I would ... in nature aquarium fish would experience night and day same as us ... unless your a deep sea dweller. Sounds like when the lights go out, they settle in for the night.
