Best kind of Test kits?

Hi everyone, I am getting back into the hobby and am getting about ready to start cycling my tank.

I am looking for a inexpensive but quality test kit to monitor water quality during cycling and beyond. There a lots of brands of strips and liquid tests out there and I have no idea which ones are good.

Any recommendations?

API master test kit covers the basics. Generally considered reliable, and given the 100s of tests you can get out of it, much more cost effective than strips in the long run.

Anything apart from test strips I find. Although have mainly only used API test kits. A pool kit kh test (should you be looking at one) could be worth a look at (I’m not sure if more reliable but pools seemed to require a more accurate reading).
