can i use pex hose

i was at menards today getting ready to do up grade getting last minute things when i ran across pex hose so i wonder can we use that vs the vinyl stuff that comes in the box of the canisters? I know its alot stiffer then the hose but that will become just as hard later down the line..It gets used for drinking water so wonder if it fish safe? Does any one else out there have this setup? Please let me know if so thanks and have a good memorial day weekend

I`ve never used it but it sounds like it would be OK. You say drinking water safe right?

Yeah, it's pretty commonly used in reef tanks for return plumbing because of the semi-flexibility. Should be fine.

good to know i wish i would have known pre hand maybe on the next set up...do you think pex would be a safer option then the vinyl stuff that comes with canisters...the stuff i i bought a lfs was crap couldnt get in with silicone or warming it with hot water......

safer? I don't know that either is more or less safe than the other. They each have their advantages...
