Cave around filter intake

Hi

I'm wanting to build a sort of cave structure of vertical pvc pipes to for a background series of caves for my tank.

Something kind of like this is the idea I'm going for PVC Aquarium Cave Background - petdiys.com

I'd like it across most or all of the back of my tank, I'm just wondering how to work it around my HOB filters..I could build it in between the filter intakes and leave a gap but this would kind of block the view I'm wanting..I'm wondering if I could place my filter intakes inside the caves or if that would create some flow problems

What are your thoughts
