Ceramic noodles

Hi guys and gals,

Will ceramic noodles work in a sump and not create a nitrate factory or does it have to be LR rubble?

Thanks

Any bio material can build up waste and create excess no3. Using lr in your tank/sump is the best option but with proper rinsing/maintenance in sw bio material can work as well. I’d add another 25+ lbs of lr/base rock in your 30 and you should be set for bio-filtration.
