Cobalt Neo-Therm Heater - mounting

I use Cobalt Neo-Therm heaters in all of my tanks. I love them. The instructions say vertical mounting only. Yesterday I picked up a sweet ADA 45f low iron, rimless tank off of craigslist. This tank is only 6.3" tall. The shortest Cobalt Neo-Therm heater is 6.5" tall.

Last night I emailed Cobalt asking why the neo-therm can't be mounted horizontally. I was pleasantly surprised they responded this morning. Based on the response, I'm not sure why their manuals are not updated.
