Custom made valve shut off

I purcahsed a Reef Octopus LR-200 and even though I like the concept they did a very poor design so that you can pull the unit out (like a canister filter) and then clean it.

For example the bottom shut off valve is actually attached to the canister (there should be two, one attached and one disattached).

With that said, I am trying to make my own custom one. Yes I can buy a PVC shut-off valve and then connect it to flex tube and that will work but its a bit large etc... so I was thinking is it possible to take a HYDOR 600 shut off valve and on one end connect it to 3/4 tubing (like normal) but on the other end screw it into a PVC pipe?

if anyone says yes, can you please link me to the PVC that it can screw into because I have been looking at several hardware stores near me and have not found anything.

Please help!!
