Danner Mag Drive 12 - Quiet?

I have a smaller Mag Drive pump running my skimmer and it is quiet, but the Rio 26HF that is the return pump on my 240g hums and can be heard from outside our living room. I've got a big sponge underneath and that does nothing to help with the noise. I'm looking to replace it with a Mag Drive 12, but wanted to know if anyone had one and what they think about how quiet it is.

I have a mag 5, 12, and 18 they are fairly quite. Some times the noise can be transmitted thru by the output hose or pipe. I just replaced the 12 and 18 with a DC Speedwave 2640 now I can hear my skimmer pump it's a Oceanrunner 3700. The new DC pumps are very quite.

The mag 12 I use is pretty much silent .

I have a 12 and 9.5 and they are very quiet.

Get a dc pumps. More cost effective and quieter IME

I just replaced my Mag 12 and 18 with a SpeedWave 2640 DC pump. The 2 Mag were drawing 255 watts the DC is drawing 55 watts on level 3 of 6. Next will be the skimmer pump!
