Distilled water??

I tested my tap water in my aquarium because my ammonia reading was 1ppm doing constant water changes and the reading was between 1ppm and 2ppm, so I tested purified/distilled water and the ammonia reading was 0ppm. So can I use half of distilled/purified water in my aquarium to get my ammonia level low??

You could use RO (reverse osmosis) water to do that, not exactly sure if the water you are referring to is the same thing. You would need to replenish the minerals with something like SeaChem replenish (Freshwater Aquarium water Conditioner for RO Water: Seachem Replenish)

Use an amonia pad in the filter for a while that may help.

I use tap water buuuut i have that 40cup brita filter, it takes FOREVER but I fill up the brita, pour it into my big Tupperware lemonade jug, and into the tank. The lemonade jug holds 1 gallon, so its perfect for knowing how much aquarium salt to replace.
