I didn't make one but I use a wet/dry in my 150, there is no better biological filter as one that utilizes oxygen.

My tank has built in overflows so I don't use a overflow box but this link gives you the idea, the water runs down into the sump and is pumped back into the display tank using a pump its really simple to be honest.

Depends on the size of your sump and what you put in it.. If you buy a pre made sump it could run you hundreds but I have seen many home made systems made out of $40 worth of stuff from Walmart. YouTube wet/dry filter or DIY sump.. It will get your brain bubbling and you'll see it's pretty easy.

I think you guys are confused a drip system is not a wet and dry

A drip system is a auto water change when fresh water drips into the main tank and old water goes down the drain

I have been running one for over 3 years and its great I haven't done a manual water change on my tank for that time

With mine 200 gal per day drips into my main tank via a RO or HMA filter then I have a overflow pipe on my sump to get rid of the over spill

Wow. You run a fluval fx5 and a sump! That is a lot of filtration.
