Emergency? Busted heater?

Got home and looked in my prized tank. Noticed heater was broken. Saw something of sorts coming out of the crack that looked like heated water, kind of like a mirage... Disappeared. I imagine it was just heated water? Fish appear normal. Are there any chems in those things?

It's probably really heated water that's come in direct contact with the heating element. I'd get it replaced ASAP, water's certainly getting inside the heater in contact with electric powered components.

Affirmative... Being a newbie, wasn't sure what they were made of. Got money back and got another that was 10 cheaper and that a local pet shop dude uses in all his tanks. He talked me out of a much more expensive one.
