About how long does it take for a bacteria colony to become established in a large filter? I set up and Eheim Pro 3 2075 five days ago but the water is still cloudy. Any information as to how long it will take this particular filter to become fully functional?

Is there an ammonia source to feed a bacteria colony?
Five days is rarely enough. Think more like thirty days with sufficient ammonia.

Also, if the water is cloudy, did you rinse the filter media before inserting it into the filter? Did you rinse the substrate well? And all decorations?
