Plumbing my new tank and finding that 1 1/2" flexible PVC is not so flexible. The manufacturer recommends 1 1/4" ID for best performance (Danner MagDrive 1200) yet the outlet is only 3/4" MPT.

Has anyone here had experience going down to either 1" or 3/4". Any PROS or CONS to help me decide what to do would be appreciated.

Dropping down in pipe size increases back pressure and is hard on the pump, creating more resistance on the motor. I would hesitate dropping down to 3/4", though 1" may be OK.

Thanks for the reply. And you are correct: 1" okay, 3/4" too small. I found a site that calcuated reistance and based on my short runs - I am going with the 1". It is so much easier to work with.

I hope to be making saltwater this evening.
