I would try a Via Aqua myself if it was a second filter

FLUVAL 404!!
It is a great filter with lots of room for media and it is easy to clean.
I have one on my 180 and it works great.

The Via Aqua is probably more quiet.

My 404 dosent make a sound unless the water level is low then you can hear the splashing.
Other then that I cant hear it run.

Eheim makes some of, if not the best canister filters available. While you may not find them at your local Petsmart, they can be had pretty reasonably online.
You might try: http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/...tegory_id=1711
