Fluval Chi Replacement Cartridges

Just got my first Chi yesterday. It's a great looking tank, but one of my concerns is the odd filter cartridges. In all of the rest of my tanks, whenever they do need to be replaced, I just cut out the size I need from the blue/white filter floss pads. I'm getting this feeling that Chi isn't going to be around for much longer, since the prices are dropping rather significantly. The floss pads I use would be a pretty tight fit...

So, should I stock up on their brand cartridges or attempt to fashion my own? What do you guys replace it with?

Keep rinsing the pads until gone. Then either go with quilt batting (that doesnt have additives like mold resistant chemicals) or go for the blue stuff.
