Gnats in my Sump?

Has anyone else had an issue with little gnats laying eggs in the open end of their sump?

I was cleaning my tank and just turned on the powerstrip to start everything up...I noticed a little worm-like white thing crawling on the surface of the water not to mention a lot of clear debris floating on the surface of the water. Any solutions?

Why not try a fine net covering?

I would think that they're only laying eggs cuz the water isnt moving enough? Try doing something to make the water too turbulent to make it a good place to lay eggs.

As long as you get rid of em long enough to end the cycle and theres no more adults to lay eggs you shouldnt have to worry about it anymore.
