How do I upgrade the lighting in a fish tank?

I've got a Juwel Rekord 800 which has a lid that holds two 18W T8 bulbs. I would like to upgrade the lighting so that I may be able to grow a larger variety of plants. The Juwel Rio 125 has similar dimensions but with a lid that holds two 36W T5 bulbs. Can I only replace the lid I have now with the Juwel Rio 125 lid, or would I have to buy the Juwel Rio 125 altogether? Thanks.

What about purchasing a full spectrum plant growing bulb which would fit the hood?

Also alternatively, there is a flexible strip light made by Current USA, which could be used to grow plants. You might need 2 strips as a retrofit, to "up" the light, or if that cost is too much a new light bar.
