if i get a ballast that say it is a dual 250watt
example at captivereefs.com part number = lt-PFAQ2-250MH-120V

will that run 2 x 250 mh bulbs or 2 x 125 watt bulbs,,,,?

NO. For MH you MUST match the wattage on the ballast with the wattage of the bulb. dual 250 will only work with two 250W bulbs.
