That sounds a lot! I've maybe gone through one in over a decade.
I probably clean mine every 3 months or so under the hose to spray / rub off the brown gunk.

I wasted two impellers on Fluval which I hated

I kill mine once a month but also with saltwater , I have so many bad ones I just rebuild from assorted parts , I usually burn up the shafts the filter pump is a dinosaur and needs to be replaced I just never do , keep saying oh I can get another month out of it . pushing it farther

lol I don't feel so bad
I hated the fluval
I've adored the Filstar
It works great and easy to clean but when I lost this impeller errrr
Kinda like relationships
After four bad ones you have to be doing something wrong
