Improving filtering for EHEIM 2213

I have a EHEIM 2213 I just received from Dr. F&S and was wondering if I can improve the setup for filtering?

The Substrat media reminds me of Cocoa-Puffs.

Should be good to go out of the box. You could add a microfilter pad to further polish the water. Purigen instead of (or along with GAC), GFO for phosphate removal.

When you say good out of the box do you mean the Cocoa Puffs ?????
