Is machine oil toxic to fish?

Hello Aquarium advice,

Would a drop of machine oil be toxic to a betta fish? I bought a aquarium water pump that has noise problems. Seller advises to apply a 'lubricant' to the interior rotor/blade area to see if that would fix it. Would it be safe to place in the tank afterwards without affecting the fish? The oil I have is "3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil"

Hello again Aquariumadvice,

I did some further online searches about 'aquarium safe lubricants' - it seems one can use silicon oil and or non toxic vaseline. I believe this solves my problem with what to use.
