Is the intake sufficient?

Just wondering...I have a 30g tall tank with an AquaClear 70 Power Filter. As I sat watching the tank last night, it occurred to me that the intake valve is a standard size. Since my tank is 24" tall, the intake valve actually extends only 2/5ths into the tank. I check the Hagen website and found no "longer" intakes.

Is this really sufficient for the tank? BTW, I got the "tall" as it was recommended by LFS for the angels (which have gone on to fishy heaven) and I plan to return them.

I don't think it will be an issue. As long as your filter is large enough for your tank, I wouldn't worry about it. JMHO.

You could look at putting an air stone in your tank to increase water movement (if you don't already have one). How long has your tank been set up the way it is?

Then it sounds to me like you are set. I wouldn't change anything.
