Is this silicone safe?

GE Silicone I 9.8 Oz. Clear Kitchen & Bath Caulk (837655) from The Home Depot

grabbed it while i was out today i read ge type was safe this is the only type 1 i seen at hd but it also says kitchen and bath better safe than sorry

The type we used (sorry cannot remember the name at the moment) actually stated "Aquarium Safe" on the tube. It also had different drying times for aquariums versus other uses.

NO!! DO NOT USE!

That type of silicone has a mildew preventer in it, which is very bad news for your fish! The other GE version, Type 2, does not have mildewcide in it. It is the one labeled for doors and windows. I have used that one personally, and never had a problem.

yuh i heard some much back and forth on it i think im just gonna stick with dap it says its aquarium safe on it but they didnt have any when i when i was there oh well i got plenty of stuff to caulk winters around the corner
