Life span of T-5 lights?

Hey guys and gals, a little question here, the title says it all really. Wondering how often you have to replace T-5 lighting bulbs?

I've heard a year to 18 months, and I've also heard that you can just run them until you notice deficient plant growth or they burn out. I'd go with 18 months.

12 -18 months is what I heard. Unless they are overpowered. Then I would assume less than a year.
