Lighting

im going to be getting a tank that comes with a light fixture and a filter. the lighting is a 32 watt light and the tank is a 41-43 gallon. will the 32 allow me to grow standard lighting plants? because i have a 29 now which has a only 20 watt lighting and i have plants in there that are doing good and have had them for about 3-4 weeks. thnx and any comments are appreciated.

low-light needs plants might survive but its advisable to have 1-1.5 watts per gallon for them.. HTH

I agree. That really isn't much light. You need atleast 1 WPG for most to survive. You can experiment with some low light plants, however.

I have a 30 gallon with a 20watt lamp (soon to be replaced with a PC lamp on tuesday) I have some anarchis and some hornwart that grows quite well. I also have some java ferns that are doing ok...not really growing much, but they've been living for about a year now. My amazon sword is doing surprisingly well...if only Mr. Clown loach would stop eating on the new leaves. Water wisteria on the other hand...is doing terribly in my tank.
