I have just purchased a 542 watt halide light sys. I would like to know how far from the water surface i should have the light?? I have a 55g tank live rock,4 small fish, feather dusters, small polyp and anemones.

You basically want to make sure that no water splashes on the bulbs. My light canopy is mounted 10 inches above my waters surface. This ensures that nothing gets wet.
