Hi guys

As i was trying to work with my tank I accidently broke my light when I tried to move the canopy. o well :(

The problem is my lighting was setup a long while ago by a friend and I dont know the exact name of the light that was broken. I recall it being a "MH" light and when i look online that is exactly what it resembles. Does anyone know the proper name I should be looking for as a replacement and the proper watts?

FOWLR tank in the midst of being setup.

Thanks so much

S

MH is metal halide for future searches.

Is this in a fixture? if so give us the model number.

If not, find the ballast that it's wired to and see what wattage it is. MH comes in several different wattages and it needs to match to your ballast.

Also, there's 2 forms of MH lighting, was it the big bulb or a small bulb?

Moving this to the general hardware forum.

if this is going to be strictly a FOWLR tank, you do not need powerful lighting. it's only running up your electric bill.
i would get a dual bulb T5 fixture and get rid of the halides.
what are the dimensions of your tank?

Single 250 Watt MH

and its a small bulb...i would say about 6 -8 inches
