I'm looking at getting a lighting system for my 29 gallon deep. I want to get something that I could use with mushrooms and polyps if I decide to get some down the road. Would the Coralife T5 HO Lunar fixture be sufficient? I also saw the Sunpod 14,000K HQI Metal Halide, but am worried about overheating.

I am guessing that the tank is 16"deep?? Anyways you could go with a double t5 fixture with individual reflectors to keep almost any soft coral and maybe some hard at the top... Or if you have the cash go with a 4 bulb t5 Ho fixture. Mushrooms and soft corals like xenia, button polyps,Toadstool don't require to strong of lights. If you really want to go all out you could get a 250w metAl halide and place it about 6 in above the tank. Then you could have almost any coral you want.
