Lighting requirements

I have 4- 40 W florescent light in my 50 gallon tanks. I was thinking of maybe getting a few polyps and mushrooms. Is my current lighting good or should I add a few more bulbs. thanks alot matt

Placed high up they may do fine. Its hard to not get shrooms to grow. Polyps can be tempermental..160w is a little over 3 watts/gal. You might consider switching to something like these..

You didn't mention the length so I picked 48" as an example. Consider using a 50/50 mix of 10ks and actinics.

Peace.
