LOUD FILTER!!

I am in the process of getting my 55gal tank up and running. I bought a Penguin BioWheel 330 and it is LOUD! Water seems to be splashing from the wheel. Is this normal? Will it quiet down after awhile? Was this a good purchase?

Gracias

This will quiet down after a while. Once some bacteria load up onto the biowheels they will slow down and won't hardly splash at all.

Also, keep the water level to the "lip" where the water pours out. This ensures the water doesn't havea distance to travel before noisly dropping into the tank water.

I have a Penguin BIO-Wheel 330 as well and I have been very happy with it. If you keep the water level high it will be much quieter. If you have plants in your tank I suggest you put some kind of biological media in the removable media baskets. I use Matrix from Seachem.

I have a Penguin 125 and it was loud when I first set it up but after a few weeks it got much quieter.
