I got a free 55 gallon tank and am starting to clean a prep everything and notice that the hob filter is missing the bio filter that goes in front of the chemical media section. What can I use in replacement? I don't have any lfs around for thirty miles. I have walmart :(. Is there anything I can get there? Thanks in advance.

Is it an aquaclear? I have a media bag with gravel in it in my filter. They might have something similar to the biomedia at wal-mart

Dear Atxpunx,

Actually you can use any sort of bio filter in many HOB, so check out what other brands are available in your Wal----. You can always put ceramic rings and other bio stuff in a net bag to put in of the chemical if you don't have baskets. In two of my non A/C HOB I simply put the ceramic/bio rings in front of the chemical and it's been fine...

Plus one can always order online...
