National Geographic 3D background

I bought one of the National Geographic 3D backgrounds for my 55 gal tank. It loos wonderful!... if I hold the LED Hood up to the front of the tank. When the hood is on top the tank is lit up beautifully but you can barely see the backdrop. Any ideas how to remedy this?

I do notice one oddity, if I drip some water down the back, anywhere the picture is wet against the glass it is much easier to see.
