Need advice on stand for 40 gal tank

So i have a TV stand that used to support my old tube TV, and it's now sitting there empty. Its 32" long by 19" wide.
I bought a 40 gallon tank thats 36" long and i was wondering if placing 3, 36" 2x4s over the stand and the tank over the 2x4s would be stable.
What do you guys think?

IMO, the thing you need to make sure of is that the stand is strong enough to support the weight of a 40B tank, just the water is going to weight over 330lbs. If you're confident in that, I think a solid piece of 3/4" plywood would be a better choice and I cut tank bases like that bigger than the tank rim, but I like to have a bit of a shelf in front to work from.
