I recently purchased my first aquarium (used) and it came with just about everything i need including a heater and chiller and a custom sealife electronic temp controller that I can plug into the heater or chiller.

when i first set up the tank i plugged in the temp controller, put the probe in the water and it seemed to be working fine (reading what seemed like an accurate temperature 76 degrees). A few hours later, it's reading 85 degrees (and this was before the lights were set up). I checked it later that afternoon and it was reading 195 degrees. I wiped down the probe and I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now all i get is "EP". My question is, am i doing something wrong? do i have to calibrate it or anything like that? or is it broken? i wish i had a manual.

oh, and of course, i tried searching for a manual online and contacting the manufacturer (who is out of business).

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
