New Protein Skimmer Break In Procedure

Hi. I bought a new Protein Skimmer and have read that some people break them in by running them overnight in a vinegar/ water bath. Has anyone used this process or is it really needed for success?

I never done a vinegar bath but I heard it helps , I always just put skimmer in place start it up and run it 24/48hrs with air intake wide open than once your through that time slowly close intake till you hear a slight difference of how the motor sounds , it may need a little tweak the next few days but once you find that sweet spot you'll be in skim mate heaven lol
