I am brand new to the hobby. To date I have a 75 long glass tank, HOB AquaClear 110 filter, BRS 5 Stage Chloramines Plus RO/DI System-75 GPD and misc water testing equipment. I want to build a FOWLR tank starting with BRS reef saver dry live rock. I have the Reef Octopus 2000 HOB Skimmer on my wish list @ BRS but I am hesitant to purchase, I need some input from folks that aren't selling them. The Eheim Ebo Jager heaters have my interest. I also have a digital heater controller. Power heads & Wave makers? what size & how many?
Should I think about a sump and overflow? I don't really understand either. Any advice & guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
Semper Fi, Jeff.

What size tank are you setting up? You would need a power head but its all about how mush you want to spend

And definitely a protein skimmer its the heart of your filtration don't skimp out on that.

GPH is my concern on power heads, not price. I will buy whatever brand has the best track record. Thanks for responding. I have other issues I mentioned in my original thread, any advice?

You don't need a sump but it would help tremendously on a tank that size. For powerheads since it's just a fowlr shoot for 20-30 total tank turnover per hour. So you want about 1,500-2,250 gph

My friend has it on a 29 and it's great, idk if I'd trust it on a 75 though.

And for your flow ecotech mp10's would do it and their really sleack and controllable.

I am looking at a Hydor 1650 GPH power head, will I need 2 of these?

I love my mp10 but it won't cut it on a 75. You'd need an mp40 IMO. The jaebo powerheads are pretty popular on this forum as well. But I have 0 experience with them

I would get a sump on a 75 but their more difficult to setup is your tank drilled?

I would not get a hang on back back skimmer for a 75g my favorite skimmer is by vertex

I was afraid of that. I don't even have a stand yet. I would like to get an aluminum stand that vertex offers.

I like the customer service of ecotech IMO.

Eheim is good I'll send you a couple of links of what I would get for a 75 set up
