I'm not all that happy with the light that came with my 45 gallon aquarium. It's very bright and not adjustable at all; the fish kind of freak out when the bright light turns on so suddenly. I looked at some other options, but all of the really nice lights appear to be bars that go over the top of the aquarium. How does that work with the hood/lid that came with the aquarium? Do I just remove the lighting part of the hood and install the light bar over top of the glass panel in the lid? (I might not be using the correct terminology...)

That description sound about right [emoji854]
I found that having the room lights on at night or reasonably bright sun light during the day around the tanks for a half hour or so before I turned on the actual tank lights seemed to not startle the fish no much
