Nitra-guard bio cubes

Having relatively high nitrates in my tap water i thought it would be worth while searching for other help. I came across these bio cubes.
I have read some really good reviews but cant find whether or not they will be any good for planted tanks.

Has any one used these, if so what sort of effect did they have on your plants
