i am looking at a 36" odyssea light with the halides and two power compacts . but i have heard somewhere that they were know for being hot and some catching on fire!! any one have experience with them! any thoughts

may i ask why, do they just burn out or do they actually catch fire im getting a heck of a deal as long as it lasts a few months as long as it is not going to burn my house down!!

The fuse blew after the wiring burned. Could have started a fire. The fans are very cheap. I would replace them before they quit. If I fix mine I will fuse each ballast separately.

I agree, I have heard they can catch fire, not a chance I would take.
