Overflow siphon design

Hello,
I would like to know if anyone has connected their overflow box air line to the inlet of their main system pump via "Y" pipe? I've been faithfully replacing the aqualifter AW-20 every 6 wks or so, and I would like to create a more permanent reliable solution. Thoughts?

My main system pump is an Iwaki, pumping around 1000GPH through 1" PVC.
