I have a 75 gal with a closed hood, 4x 96 watt PC bulbs

I have a slamming deal on a hang above fixture with 2x 250w MH and 4x 54w T5 actinics and moon lights.

I will remove the enclosed hood and hang the new fixture above the tank from the ceiling. This will get rid of of the overheating problem.

but my question is -

Is there such a thing as too much light?

Moved to General hardware and equipment discussion.

Yes there is such a thing as too much light. I dont think you will have too much light with those if you have those lights about 6 to 8 inches above the tank.

Thanks for the move and the info

I will be able to get them about 10-12" above the water

Just curious, what type of problems would I look for to indicate too much light?

Some corals like mushrooms and polyps will look small and closed up if there is too much light. I`ve seen folks that had VHO`s and PC`s and these type corals did OK and then they went with MH`s and all of a sudden the lower light corals have problems.
