Can I connect flex pipe and pvc? I am setting up a closed loop with the returns going over the top as opposed to drilling the back of the tank. I was wondering if I could use flex pipe as the return and possibly connect it to pvc piping. I hope to connect pvc to the pump, then connect flex to the pvc and run it up to the top of the tank outletting into the tank.

Do you mean use the flex to bend over the top into the tank? Or use the flex before the return?

I would recommend using rigid pvc and 2 90*'s so that you can easily mount loc-line fittings to it. Other than that flex pvc is fine.

Yes you can connect the two provided you have the right fittings. All you need is a barbed adapter which can be threaded on to your pump's discharge fitting, then slide the flex line over the barbed adapter and tighten it down with a gear clamp (two is better).
