poly filter question

on the poly-bio-marine site it states that with the use of this filter i can elimate the use of my skimmer. how much truth to this is there? keep in mind that i have a 20 gal and do weekly water changes, and that i have the lees protein skimmer (biggest peice of crap that i have ever seen) and i will be getting a new skimmer when i get my taxes!

I would never advocate not using a skimmer. I do run Poly filter band filters in my nano that has no skimmer. All seems to be fine, although I do weekly water changes.

the berlin airlift 60 is an awesome skimmer and it is only 30 something. Its always worth running a skimmer but it is possible to not run one.

poly-filters are good but I would not use it for all my nutrient removal.

I always have a poly filter in my sump. It's in the small compartment after the skimmer. I change it monthly.

They will get pretty dark drown before they are completely spent.
