How do I know if my protein skimmer is working successfully ?

I just purchased it yesterday and i’m not
sure what to be looking for it is working right ?

Is it an in sump, hang on back or external? Skimmers have a break in period usually takes a few days. Once working it should be making bubbles and creating skim mate that fills the collection cup. You can change the air input to skim your tank to produce wet skim mate or dry bubbly skim mate.

It’s one that you put in the tank. it’s making bubbles in the collection cup, so I guess it’s installed correctly

It’ll take a little to break in and will probably need tweaking as it does but once broken in it should be producing a cup of skim mate depending on your bio load. The bubbles will build up and spill over the top of the collection cup.
