So I started running the Reef Octopus BH 100 a little more than a month ago and no matter how much I adjust the collection cup I still get micro bubbles in my tank. The open top next to the collection cup is constantly over flowing as well. Anybody have this filter who can help? Unfortunately it's to late to return it.

Are you sure you have it in the recommended depth? Do you have some photos of the setup? Do you have any baffles or a bubble trap to help reduce the amount of bubbles?

The directions consisted of a diagram and didn't have suggested depth. It currently sits 6in below the surface. It came with some bubble sponges. You can see them in the photos.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I leave for vacation on Thursday.

Many people initially have problems with these skimmers. It almost always is setup error of some sort.

I myself have the bh1000. First off what is over the output pipe that lets water into the tank from the skimmer? Also did your airline come with a valve? Besides the silencer?

Those are bubble traps. They are two sponge like things that came with the skimmer. The diagram said they go there to reduce micro bubbles but no dice. I tried removing them to see if that helped but It didn't do anything. I received no valve with the skimmer. There was also none listed on the diagram.

I decided to unplug the skimmer as I left to go on vacation today. hopefully I can get it figured out when I get home.

Is that set up right? My BH1000 looks totally different...? The pump is on the bottom of the box, external of the tank. And it looks like the return pipe that is IN the tank on the left should also be in the box, in the left side...

My fault nevermind... His is the 100, I have the 1000.. Different setup
Sorry!

No I never figured it out. Probably will end up selling it. It hasn't been in my tank for 2 months.
