Hello this probably isn't where this thread goes but I have a quick question on protein skimmer maintenace. I have a 40 gallon FOWLR tank with a trickle filter and a Octopus HOB Skimmer. I have had it running for about 5 months now with no problems. However I imagine that it could use some maintenance. What do you need to do to maintain your skimmer? The skimmer came with virtually no instructions so it did not have anything about maintenace. I heard that running it in vinegar every 5-6 months was all you need to do? Is that all it needs?
